09/28/2008 1:07 PM ET
ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum (Cardinals HOF) announced today that they will be closing to the public on November 8th in conjunction with the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame (IBMHOF). Both institutions will be re-locating to new facilities with the Cardinals Museum to re-open in Ballpark Village and the Bowling Hall of Fame to be re-established in Arlington, Texas.

The Cardinals HOF has been situated in the IBMHOF since 1997 and had previously been in Busch Stadium II beneath the Fan Zone Team Store. The institution dates back to 1968 when it was originally called The St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame.

The Cardinals are currently developing plans for a new facility for its collection of items and archives in Phase 1 of the Ballpark Village construction. In the meantime, certain artifacts will be on display in Busch Stadium while the museum staff carefully archives and prepares other pieces in anticipation of the new facility.

"We're very excited about what lies ahead for the Cardinals Museum," said Paula Homan, Manager of Museum Operations and Curator. "We have a wonderful collection of artifacts relating to the history of the Cardinals, as well as the history of baseball in St. Louis, and we're looking forward to the opportunity to share these with our fans in many new and exciting ways in Ballpark Village."

The museums will remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until September 30th. The facility will then switch to off-season hours, open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday until November 8th.

The St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum is the official repository of the St. Louis Cardinals and showcases over 100 years of baseball history in St. Louis. The museum is located inside the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. For more information about the museums or group rates, please call (314) 231-6340.
