St. Louis Cardinals Debut 2011 TV AD Campaign 03/14/2011 12:19 PM ETMLB.com
Building on the popularity of the award-winning ad campaigns from the past three seasons, the Cardinals are debuting a new lineup of TV spots this week. The ads introduce the team's new "We Are Cardinal Nation" marketing theme and feature players such as Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday, Lance Berkman, manager Tony La Russa, plus the debut of Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst. All seven of the new "We Are Cardinal Nation" television spots have begun heavy rotation on local over-the-air and cable channels. Filmed in February during Cardinals spring training in Jupiter, Fla., the campaign carries on the spirit of the previous years, focusing on key team characteristics of intensity, commitment, teamwork ... and, of course, fun. The campaign was developed by Waylon Ad of St. Louis. Highlights include Holliday showing off his hitting prowess, Berkman's dilemma in choosing a new uniform number and a sequel to last season's dugout meeting between La Russa and team mascot Fredbird. Fans will also enjoy Schoendienst's first appearance in a commercial as well. "We are excited to debut the new 'We Are Cardinal Nation' theme, and wanted to keep the fun spirit of the TV campaigns from previous years," said Dan Farrell, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "We always get great participation from our players...we think the ads reflect their excitement to be a part of 'Cardinal Nation'."
