The Deal: With one move, the Red Sox now go from having an above average bullpen to an elite one. Gagne essentially gives the Sox a dominant closer to pitch the eighth, helping the lights-out 1-2 punch of Jonathan Papelbon and Hideki Okajima. Gagne can close when the young righty needs a rest.
The Deal: With the acquisition of Teixeira, the Braves added the best available player on the market and significantly improved his teams postseason hopes. The cost of getting Teixeira and Mahay was steep, in top catching prospect Saltalamacchia, Andrus, Harrison and Feliz dealt to Texas.
