Cards rally back, settle for tie with O's
Marrero plates game-tying run; Carpenter works three innings

Cardinals at the plate: Eli Marrero tied the game on a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning. Right fielder John Rodriguez drew a one-out walk and scored on a single by Aaron Miles in the second inning. First baseman Albert Pujols drove a 400-foot foul up the left-field line against Baltimore closer Chris Ray and followed that with a double to the gap in right-center field.
Orioles at the plate: Nick Markakis had three hits for the Orioles. Aubrey Huff drove home Baltimore's first run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Five innings later, he contributed a run-scoring double.
Cardinals on the mound: Former Cy Young Award winner Chris Carpenter worked three strong innings and allowed just two hits -- a single by Markakis and a double off the same bat. Blake Hawksworth pitched three innings and gave up one run. Hawksworth struck out Jeff Fiorentino with the bases loaded in his last inning of work.
Orioles on the mound: Steve Trachsel started and pitched three innings. He gave up three hits and one run and was saved by at least two lunging plays by his defense. Ray pitched a scoreless inning.

Up next: The Orioles will play the Marlins on Wednesday at 1:05 p.m. ET at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Fla., and Erik Bedard will make his second start of the spring season.
The Cardinals will travel to Vero Beach, Fla., where Braden Looper will take the ball against the Dodgers at 12:05 p.m. CT.
