Twins at the plate: Shortstop Jason Bartlett delivered three run-scoring singles in the rout. Center fielder Denard Span had four hits and scored two runs. Catcher Joe Mauer drilled a sac fly deep to center field. First baseman Garrett Jones had four RBIs, including a two-run homer over the right-field fence in the seventh inning.

Orioles at the plate: Third baseman Melvin Mora drilled a double to left-center to score Baltimore's first run. Second baseman Brian Roberts doubled over the left fielder's head in the fifth inning.

Twins on the mound: Former Oriole Sid Ponson started for Minnesota and held Baltimore to three hits in four innings. Ponson struck out two batters and walked one. Matt Garza threw two scoreless innings for the Twins.

Orioles on the mound: Steve Trachsel loaded the bases in the first inning and escaped, but wasn't as lucky later. Trachsel gave up an unearned run in the second and four runs in the fourth, when Minnesota strung together five straight singles. Chad Bradford gave up a two-run homer and hit three batters in a nine-run seventh.

Grapefruit League records: Twins 8-9; Orioles 7-7.

Coming up: The Orioles will play two split-squad games at 1:05 p.m. ET on Saturday, with ace Erik Bedard starting against the Mets in Fort Lauderdale and rookie Hayden Penn getting the ball against the Marlins in Jupiter. The Twins will play the Pirates in Bradenton, and Boof Bonser will start against Pittsburgh's Tony Armas Jr.
