Cardinals at the plate: First baseman Tagg Bozied hit a monstrous two-run homer in the first inning that traveled midway through the infield of an adjoining field. Catcher Yadier Molina doubled twice, driving in one run and scoring another in the Cards' one-sided win. Third baseman Jolbert Cabrera tripled and scored in the sixth inning.

Orioles at the plate: Baltimore had just four singles in the game's first seven innings. Center fielder Corey Patterson and right fielder Adam Stern both reached base on balls that never left the infield. Catcher Ramon Hernandez and shortstop Miguel Tejada added clean singles of their own. Brandon Sing hit a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth to put the O's on the board. Patterson was thrown out trying to steal third.

Cardinals on the mound: Braden Looper was lights-out for the Cardinals, holding the Orioles to four hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. Only two Orioles reached scoring position, and neither one was able to reach third base. Looper fell one out shy of becoming just the second Cardinals pitcher to throw seven innings this spring.

Orioles on the mound: Erik Bedard threw four innings in his final spring start, but he got hit hard along the way. The southpaw allowed eight hits and three earned runs, striking out three batters and walking one. Todd Williams pitched a scoreless inning in relief, and lefty specialist Jamie Walker allowed one run in his only inning.

Grapefruit League records: Cardinals 15-10; Orioles 14-13.
