Cardinals retain entire coaching staff
2008 will mark fourth consecutive season for current group
ST. LOUIS -- The Cardinals announced on Monday that their entire coaching staff will return for 2008, leaving the club with only one major staffing question to address.
When manager Tony La Russa re-upped with a new two-year deal last week, he made it clear he hoped to have his entire staff back. The club made that official one week later. All of the coaches have one-year deals.
The staff will again consist of pitching coach Dave Duncan, hitting coach Hal McRae, first-base coach Dave McKay, third-base coach Jose Oquendo, bench coach Joe Pettini and bullpen coach Marty Mason. It will mark the fourth consecutive season together for the current staff.
Within the next few days, the Cardinals are likely to announce their new general manager, completing the staffing puzzle.
