Ahmady out 50 games for testing positive for amphetamine

It was revealed on Tuesday that Cardinals Minor League third baseman Alan Ahmady was handed a 50-game suspension for testing positive for an amphetamine. Use of the drug violated the Minor League drug prevention and treatment program. The suspension will be effective at the start of the 2010 season. An 11th-round pick of the Cardinals in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, Ahmady batted .292 with three home runs and 32 RBIs in 67 games for Class A Batavia.Mark Sheldon is a reporter for MLB.com.
