ST. LOUIS -- With Brewers starter Doug Davis set to rejoin the rotation against the Giants in the coming week, Brewers manager Ken Macha has some difficult decisions ahead of him.

Who loses their spot in the rotation? Does anyone get sent back to the Minors?

Chris Narveson will start Friday against the Cardinals and Manny Parra will take the hill on Saturday. With Macha still having to make up his mind on who stays in the rotation, the next two starts for the young left-handers could weigh heavily on his decision.

"Part of being the manager," Macha said. "No matter what you do, somebody is not going to be happy."

Another pitcher who could find his job in jeopardy is Carlos Villanueva. After starting the season on a torrid pace -- not giving up a run in his first 13 innings to go with 17 strikeouts -- the right-hander has gone from shutdown to unreliable. In May and June, Villanueva has posted a 6.97 ERA and 1.732 WHIP over 27 innings.

"If you are behind in the game one or two runs, that is important," Macha said, of being able to trust Villanueva. "Right now, he has kind of shortened up our bullpen a little bit."

Hawkins feels fine after bullpen session

ST. LOUIS -- Slowly but surely, Brewers reliever LaTroy Hawkins is on his way to recovery. The Milwaukee right-hander threw his second bullpen session on Thursday since being put on the disabled list on May 9 with weakness in his right shoulder. He finished with "no pain" in his shoulder.

Hawkins warmed up by playing catch for seven minutes, before throwing 40 fastballs off the mound.

"I felt good. No pain," Hawkins said. "Just letting my body get back into rhythm, and the shape of being on the mound and throwing off the hill."

Although no definite plan has been set for recovery, Hawkins said he would play catch on Friday and throw another bullpen on Saturday incorporating curveballs into his routine.

Jeffress heads to Class A Brevard

ST. LOUIS -- Former first-round pick Jeremy Jeffress is on the move again.

After the Brewers added Jeffress to the 40-man roster last Tuesday and optioned him to Class A Wisconsin, Milwaukee then transferred Jeffress to Class A Brevard County on Thursday. He will take pitcher Trey Watten's spot after the right-hander was placed on the disabled list.

Drafted out of high school in 2006, Jeffress has had an up-and-down history with the Brewers organization, as he was suspended 50 games and 100 games after testing positive for marijuana.

At Class A Wisconsin, outfielder Khris Davis was named Midwest League Batter of the Week. Starting in the Midwest League All-Star game last Tuesday, Davis went 5-for-11 with four extra base hits in a weekend sweep of Burlington.
