"We'll just see how it feels," Thompson said. "However many days that is."
Thompson, 26, last pitched on April 22. He was optioned to the Minors the following day, but the option was rescinded when he was placed on the disabled list. His condition is considered to be relatively minor, but nonetheless it's keeping him off the field.
The shot, administered by Dr. George Paletta, was intended to relieve the discomfort in Thompson's elbow. Structurally, there is not believed to be anything significantly wrong with the joint. Or, at least, there's nothing structurally in Thompson's elbow that most pitchers aren't also dealing with.
Still, he's eager to get back on a mound, even if it's just a game of catch. While his teammates stretched on the field on Friday afternoon, Thompson read a book.
"I'm getting bored," he said.
