Izturis switching to righty only
Struggles from left side lead to move for Cards shortsop

After struggling at the plate from the left side, Izturis decided to abandon hitting left-handed and instead become a full-time right-handed hitter.
"Right-handed, I feel more comfortable," Izturis said.
On the year, Izturis has struggled from the plate, batting .226 entering Wednesday night's game against the Brewers. That number, however, has been largely influenced by Izturis' job as a left-handed hitter, where he is just batting a lowly .199 in 141 at-bats.
As a right-handed hitter, Izturis is batting .287 with one home run and nine RBIs.
"Izturis has been better from that side, so I think it makes sense to try it," manager Tony La Russa said. "I don't know if [the move will be permanent]. I think it depends on the results, but I can definitely follow that reasoning."
In his first year with the Cardinals, Izturis has added great depth to the infield with his superior glove and defense. La Russa has raved about Izturis' defense all year long, and it is, arguably, the main reason why he has continually stayed in the lineup.
