The Cardinals slugged their way to an early lead when Abraham Nunez, Jim Edmonds and John Mabry each mashed a solo home run in the first inning. That turned out to be all the offense they would muster against the Cubs until tying the game on David Eckstein's two-out, two-strike RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.
