Todd Wellemeyer kept the Brewers off the board after allowing four in the first, but the Cardinals' offense struggled to get anything going. Albert Pujols doubled and scored on Nick Stavinoha's single in a two-run sixth that pulled St. Louis within two, but Blaine Boyer was tagged for three runs in the seventh without recording an out.
