MLBPA statement concerning Zika virus and upcoming games scheduled in Puerto Rico

NEW YORK -- The Major League Baseball Players Association today issued the following statement concerning the Zika virus and games scheduled for San Juan, Puerto Rico:

"The Major League Baseball Players Association continues to have on-going discussions with the Commissioner's Office and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in advance of games scheduled between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Miami Marlins in San Juan, Puerto Rico, May 30-31.

"The health and safety of our members and their families are our primary concerns, and we have a responsibility to gather as much information as possible from the top scientific experts in the field.

"The MLBPA will have no further comment on this matter at this time."
