Statement of MLBPA Executive Director Tony Clark regarding the passing of former MLBPA Counsel Arthur Schack

NEW YORK -- Major League Baseball Players Association executive director Tony Clark today issued the following statement upon learning of the passing of former MLBPA Counsel, Arthur Schack.

Schack served as counsel from 1982 - 1998, when he was elected to the New York City Civil Court of Kings County. He served in that capacity until 2003, when he was elected to the New York State Supreme Court.

"We are deeply saddened to learn about Arthur Schack's passing. The Major League Baseball Players Association has lost one our most beloved and revered former employees. Arthur's contributions on behalf of Players and his imprint on union affairs have created an ever-lasting legacy among present day staff. He will be missed by all, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Dilia, daughter, Elaine, son, Doug, his colleagues and many friends."
