COACHING CAREER: Enters his 31st year in professional baseball in 2014…is the longest-tenured member of D-backs' coaching staff and only person on staff all 16 seasons since 1998…served as Minor League catching coordinator 1996-97...Served two stints as the D-backs' bullpen and catching coach from 1998-2002 and 2005-13…in 2004, began the season as the first base coach but took over as third base coach after Al Pedrique was named interim manager…in 2003, served as bench coach...Among the catchers he has coached: Yankees' Jorge Posada, Mike Stanley, Matt Nokes, Bob Melvin, Brad Ausmus and Jim Leyritz and D-backs' Damian Miller, Kelly Stinnett, Jorge Fabregas, Chris Snyder, Miguel Montero, Henry Blanco and Wil Nieves...Began his coaching career in 1989 as a player/coach for Double-A Albany-Colonie in the Yankees' farm system.

PLAYING CAREER: Played in 297 career games as catcher in Houston (1983-86) and New York-AL's (1987-89) Minor League system...Drafted in the 21st round of the 1983 free agent draft by the Astros.

PERSONAL: Glenn Patrick Sherlock...He and his wife, Lisa, have a son, Tim, and daughter, Cara...Tim was the D-backs' 40th-round selection in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of Duke University…he was originally drafted by the Phillies as their 32nd-round selection in June 2005 but chose to attend Duke...Earned a B.A. degree in environmental studies at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla...Honored with the Rollins College Hall of Fame Achievement Award and earned Sunshine State All-Star status...Played three seasons in Yarmouth-Dennis Cape Cod League...Graduated in 1979 from St. John's Prep in Danvers, Mass., earning all-state baseball honors…also played football...Operates a catchers camp in the Valley during offseason...Completed the 2013 Ironman Arizona on Nov. 17.
